ISO 22320 – Emergency Management

ISO 22320 is an international standard that focuses on emergency management. It details the minimum requirements for an organisation to be able to provide an effective response to any incident.

It sets out the basic requirements for managing operational information, command, control and coordination in the midst of an emergency situation. It also specifies the systems of work and the collection and management of data, in order to provide relevant and accurate information.

Benefits of ISO 22320

ISO 22320 is applicable to any company, regardless of size, area or type of management, that wants to be adequately prepared to respond to emergency situations. Specifically, it is recommended for those organisations that:

  • Provide guidance and direction in emergency situations.
  • Develop regulations and plans for command and control.
  • They develop coordination and cooperation strategies for multiple agencies and organisations.
  • Develop specialised incident information and communication systems.
