UNE 15713 – Secure Destruction of Confidential Material

The importance of the UNE EN 15713 standard lies in the fact that it establishes recommendations for the management and control of confidential document destruction processes in a safe and sanction-free manner.

An organisation certified under the UNE 15713 standard:

  • Guarantees in their services the use of the means and the application of the appropriate procedures for secure document destruction for both the company or business and for the confidential destruction company.
  • Provides recommendations applicable to company headquarters and any other place of custody for confidential material.
  • It provides post-destruction information with the confidence of the type of industrial shredder that is needed to divide the document into portions that barely contain 2 letters.

The UNE EN-15713 standard is the ideal complement to regulate the Data Protection Act in the destruction processes of all kinds of confidential files. It consists of four well-differentiated stages:

  • Arrival at the facilities.
  • Destruction of documents.
  • Issuance of the certificate.

Its implementation is recommended in those organisations in which guaranteeing confidential document destruction processes is critical, due to the level of security applicable to the confidential data handled.

Advantages of UNE 15713 verification

  • Provides quality criteria.
  • Facilitates compliance with the Data Protection Act and environmental legislation.
  • It carries out a review of activities, facilities and resources.
  • Integrates all business service provision activities.
  • Provides extra reliability for clients in relation to the confidentiality of the information handled by their supplier.
