Certification in Integrity and Accountability in Public Procurement EN 17687
Lack of commitment to the fundamental principles of integrity, accountability and transparency in public procurement can create room for corruption, undermine the effectiveness of public services and have a negative impact on the cost-effectiveness of public spending.
The European standard EN 17687 has been developed following the acceptance by the European Standardisation Organisation (CEN), because of its relations with the European Commission, to provide a European standard focusing on integrity and accountability in public procurement.
This standard is certifiable, i.e. it is designed so that third party auditing and certification bodies, through their independent auditing process, can provide assurance of compliance with the standard’s requirements. In this way, it can be trusted by third parties, which may include clients, collaborators, end users and, of course, the administered citizen.
Due to the special importance of the matter in question, it is advisable to rely on the guarantee offered by a recognised certification body such as EQA, which has been operating in the world of accredited certification for more than 25 years, periodically audited by ENAC and which already has the procedures and the appropriate material and human resources for auditing this type of management systems.
