ISO 37002 Declaration of Conformity & Whistleblower Management
The implementation of whistleblowing channels, also commonly known as alert channels, has been a common practice in organisations, even more in recent years.
Spanish Law 2/2023, following Directive 2019/1937 of the European Parliament and of the Council on the protection of persons who report breaches of EU law, establishes the obligation to follow a series of requirements when establishing whistleblowing channels and procedures in organisations, so that companies with more than 50 employees must progressively have them in place, as well as any other company that, even if it does not reach that figure, has whistleblowing channels.
The ISO 37002 standard was created in response to the need to establish channels for reporting irregularities following international best practices in the field of compliance, being easily integrated with recognised compliance standards such as UNE 19601 or ISO 37001, for which EQA has ENAC Accreditation, or ISO 37301, among others.
Although the ISO 37002 standard cannot be formally certified as it is a guideline standard, the application or non-application of these guidelines by an organisation can be subject to external assessment. EQA includes among its auditing services the one aimed at obtaining a Declaration of Conformity regarding the implementation of the guidelines contained in this best practice standard, following an audit process based on international best practices in certification, inspection, validation and verification.
Implementing and assessing the application of the guidelines of this standard is evidence of the sustainable vision that should guide an organisation and its management at the highest level, as well as the existence of good corporate governance and compliance with the law in the organisation.
